File & Image Uploads

Add images and attachments to your documents

Overview

Enhance your documents with images, PDFs, and other attachments. AnySlate makes it easy to upload files by pasting from your clipboard or dragging them directly into the editor. All uploads are stored securely in your cloud storage and automatically linked to your documents.

Uploading Images

There are multiple ways to add images to your documents:

Paste from Clipboard

Copy any image and press Cmd/Ctrl + V to insert it directly.

Works with screenshots, copied images from browsers, and image files.

Drag and Drop

Drag image files from Finder/Explorer directly into the editor.

The image will be uploaded and a Markdown link inserted automatically.

Insert Menu

Use Insert → Image or press Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + I to open the image picker.

Supported Image Formats

Maximum file size: Images can be up to 10 MB each. For larger images, consider compressing them first for faster loading.

Attachments

Beyond images, you can attach various file types to your documents:

PDFs

Research papers, manuals, references

Documents

.docx, .odt, .rtf files

Spreadsheets

.xlsx, .csv, .ods files

Archives

.zip, .tar.gz for code samples

Tip: Attachments are linked in your document as downloads. Readers can click to download the attached file.

Orphan Cleanup

Over time, you may delete or change image references in your documents, leaving unused files in storage. AnySlate helps you clean these up:

  • 1Go to Settings → Cloud → Storage
  • 2Click 'Find Orphaned Files'
  • 3Review the list of unused uploads
  • 4Select files to delete or keep
  • 5Confirm to permanently remove orphaned files

Caution: Deleted files cannot be recovered. Make sure the file isn't referenced in any document before removing it.

Storage Usage

Uploads count toward your storage quota. Monitor and manage your usage:

  • Images and attachments count toward your storage limit
  • View upload breakdown in Settings → Cloud → Storage
  • Compress images before uploading to save space
  • Use orphan cleanup to remove unused files
  • Upgrade your plan for more storage if needed
